Pavslars House

This old time house in the central position of the main square of Kranj counts among the most important monuments of late medieval town arcitecture in Slovenia. It developed in to extremely articulated and rich whole out of three independent units of the 15th century. In the middle of the 16th century it was united by arcade pasages into one organic whole. The final form of this city manor house was archieved mainly by reconstructions carried out in 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Additories of the new style elements to the ancient center a proces that lasted from the Middle ages to the 19th century , created gradually a high-quality architectual organism . The house has preserved one of the most interesting and beautiful arcade courtyards of civic arcitecture. The late Gothic frescoes of the period about 1526 were discovered in the house and on the outer walls in the years 1967/68 and 1989. They represent St.Christopher, St. Florian, St. Sebastian, St. Nicholas, St. Anne Self-Third and others. There is also a fresco of St. Florian of the middle of the 18th century. The old names of the house were »Skarja« and »Simonet«.
