The Slamec homestead, a protected cultural monument with more than 400 years of history, was restored by the Sežana municipality and, in 2003, transformed, through the help of Phare funds, into Pliskovica Youth Hostel, later handed over to the ŠTIP Sežana Institute. That's when the story 'Experience Karst in true Karst manner' began. This is the product of cooperation between a public institution and the local community. In cooperation with RD Pliska, guided tours of villages and Karst learning trails are conducted – Pliska's trails, views of stonemason's shops, ethnologic collections, beekeeping and wine tasting; culinary highlights are offered by a tourist farm. The day of open courtyars, the Teran Queen Competition, Festival Summer at Slamec's homestead and hikes additionally bring the village to life. Workshops presenting basket weaving, carving, stonemasonry, Karst kitchen, resin work and familiarisation with the biological diversity and geographical characteristics of the Karst are only a continuation of the story 'Experience Karst in true Karst manner'.
