By the bank of the rivers for which Tržič has also been called »Venice of Gorenjska« we will take a walk past former ironworks and blacksmith's workshops through the old town centre to the Tržič Museum.
At the Tržič Museum one can feel the enterprising drive of the old Tržič families. In the displayed collections one can view the whole procedure from leather to the making of a shoe, secret recipes and procedures of tanning skins and its majesty the shoe, which has been turned out of the hands of skilled shoemakers from Tržič for centuries.
Metal shutters and doors, drying openings in the roofs, ''firb'c'' window, interesting portals and large stones which protect the corners of a house, are only some of the attractions which we will encounter on our way to the Kavar Foundry Gallery.
By viewing the displayed foundry products we will get to know the history of ore mining and iron working in Tržič and its surroundings, as well as the history of foundry and casting in bronze. We will also be introduced to the metals and tools used in the foundry, individual phases of two foundry procedures and production at the foundry workshop (viewing of current production).
By the Tržiška Bistrica, where mills and saws used to stand, near a nice restaurant, an open air museum is situated where the cultural and architectural heritage of the Alpine and Karavanke mountains area is presented.
After lunch we will also learn of old crafts (blacksmithing, apiculture, production of mead, candles…) and products of folk art, for example bee-hive end boards.
The Master's Workshop Kosmač in Bistrica pri Tržiču is occupied with designing and decorating objects of cultural heritage made of wood. The objects represent a link with the past and display the uncomplicated nature of Slovenian people and their close connection with nature.
For a pleasant conclusion of your trip we kindly invite you to the TC Deteljica. Besides the factory stores Peko Tržič (footwear) and Bombažna predilnica in tkalnica Tržič (bedsheets and linens), there are numerous specialised shops and catering facilities.
