If you like water, the Lahinja Landscape Park (21) eight kilometers from Črnomelj is definitely your park. In a relatively small area you’ll find many springs, various karst phenomena, two marshes, and even some cultural heritage for a full measure of beauty. Begin your stroll in Pusti Gradec where you can inspect the Klepčev mill and sawmill. Archeological finds show that this area has been settled since the Stone Age. Follow the path to Mala Lahinja, past a pond with the European pond turtle and across meadows and fields past Lahinjski lugi with its conserved marsh flora and fauna such as the marsh gentian. Walk to the source of the Lahinja, and then continue the route via Belčji vrh back to Mala Lahinja, past Nerajski lugi to the Krnica spring. Stop by in Veliki Nerajc, where, given prior notice, they treat groups to a piece of characteristic buckwheat potica. After your walk, you deserve this Bela krajina delicacy!
