Begin the route in Pišece where still today you can hear the sound of watermills. Stroll along the 500-meter-long forest road leading to Pišece Castle where a special park with interesting trees such as a mammoth tree, a tulip tree, and a Japanese cryptomeria opens before you. From the medieval gardens, the tour takes you to the memorial room of linguist and author Maks Pleteršnik, where you can learn all about his literary works. Still in an historical atmosphere, the tour leads on to the “repnice” caves, which always surprise and amaze, in the unusual sandstone world, so special and still undiscovered. Friendly local people will show you this underground world and tell you how important cooperation between man and nature is. From here you can follow the trail of pilgrims to Svete gore and the Church of Sv. Marija encircled by four chapels. Enjoy the wonderful view of Kozjansko Park.
