A fairly narrow valley is squeezed between the hills and is famous for its ironworks in Železniki. Rich history of this town is well preserved in many cultural and historical monuments that attract visitors from all corners of the world. Two stone arched bridges - that of Na klovžah and Pod grivo – lead to Racovnik, an old hammer millers' part of the town. Above the old town core there is a fully restored Church of St. Anthony who watches over the townspeople. Železniki is famous for manually produced bobbin lace that is on display in the tourist association Železniki where you can also purchase it. Additionally, you can take part in a lacemaking course or apply for Dražgoše gingerbread making workshop provided that you state your interest in advance. P'lnada, the oldest house in Železniki and one of the main hammer mill buildings is also exceptional. The ironworks tradition came to its end in 1902 when the fire in the last smelting furnace that was used for melting iron ore to obtain pig iron extinguished. Centuries of digging for iron ore and decades that followed the downfall of the ironworks tradition are revived in the Železniki Museum that is housed in a famous hammer mill house, the Plavec House.
