Thanks to the unique composition of rock, one can encounter an extremely rich and diverse array of plants here. For those who prefer walikng through the blossoming slopes at the foot of towering mountains over climbing their lofty summits, it is best to set out on a trek in July, when summer reigns supreme in the highlands. Those with a keen eye will be able to spot the frinedly Alpine marmot (Marmota Marmota), which thrives well in depresions with succulent grasses and luxurious mountain flowers.
The saddle affords a fine view of two spruce-coloures lakes called the Mangart Lakes (Mangrtskoi or Belopeški jezeri), and only 100 m to 200 m above the highest stretch of the mountain road is a view point affording a distant view of the Grossglockner on clear days.
How to get there?
On the road Bovec - Predel, about 15 km from Bovec and 1 km before Predel Pass, there is crossroads for Mangrtsko sedlo. There begins 11 km long mountain road which leads to the saddle.
