Between Logarska dolina and Ljubno, the Savinja is a typical alpine river with a great drop, numerous rapids, pools, and clear water rich with fauna. In this area, the Savinja River is the main feature of the Upper Savinja Valley and makes this valley, which enclosed by high mountains composed of limestone and volcanic tuff, particulary picturesque.
