With help of ethnologist Marija Makarovič, members of folklore association Pobrežje accomplished in years 2000 - 2006, a large research about peasant costumes since second half of 19th century until the end of First World War. Numerous forms of dancing and customs that are today presented by folklore associations originate from that time. There are many written facts and forms of male and female Styria customs since 19th century, which had only general meaning. Searching was based on testimonies of elder people who have still remembered their parents or grandparents costumes. Collected information, examined photographs and other materials gave them information for sketches, which were then shaped and sewed in several dresses. Year 2000 was dedicated to research of festive costumes that was worn on Sundays and other feast days. Among feast dresses male dancers costumes, with a semicircular hat rich with colourful artificial flowers, steps out.
Dancers, group of festively dressed boys and girls, perform in carnival time, when they walk around villages in company of musicians and kurent. They wish good luck and good harvest to the locals, and dance in farm yards.
Research in 2006 was exploring everyday male and female costumes, which were also successfully finished and sewed. Festive and everyday costumes are not permanent exhibits. They are exhibited only when members of folklore group does not need them in their numerous shows.
