Kropa

You will be beguiled by the authenticity of the only entirely preserved manual spike production forge. Visits to see the gloomy and modestly furnished interior and hear the sounds of hammer against anvil are available upon prior arrangement or during an organised visit to the village of
Kropa.
A forge is a building constructed from rock and wood, where the iron forgers of Kropa,
Kamna Gorica and Kolnica used to manufacture over 120 different types of spikes. Water wheels powered the bellows which, in turn, blew air into the fire in a fireplace used at the same time by several workers. Vice Forge's nineteenth century equipment has all been preserved: three fireplaces, anvils, tools, bellows, and a water wheel.
Vice Forge (Vigenjc Vice) is situated on the left bank of the Kroparica Stream, only a five-minute walk from Kropa's main square in the direction of Jamnik.
Today, Vice Forge is a museum. Upon prior request at the
Iron Forging Museum, guided visits in Slovene, German or English, with manual spike production demonstration, can be arranged for organised groups.
Vice Forge opens, upon prior request, for groups of a minimum of 10 visitors.
