The National Museum of Slovenia's department located in the Metelkova ulica street houses a permanent exhibition on applied art in Slovenian inhabited areas including several study collections and presents occasional temporary exhibitions of applied art. Reflecting the creativity and skills of the past, exhibited objects testify to the ways of life in Slovenian inhabited lands over the last five centuries.

Permanent exhibition: Study collections of applied art
The National Museum of Slovenia's permanent exhibition presents the heritage of applied art in Slovenian inhabited areas. It includes arts and crafts items, industrial design products and unique design artefacts created from the 14th century to the present day. Bringing together over 2,500 objects, it reflects the rich diversity of styles, forms of decoration, materials and techniques used in applied art in different periods of cultural history, from the Gothic period, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Classicism to the Empire Style, Biedermeier, Historicism, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Modernism.

Open: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00, Thursday and Saturday from 8.00 - 22.00, except 1 and 2 January, 27 April, 1 and 2 May, 25 June, 1 November, and 25 and 26 December.
