Get acquainted with the skiing equipment once used by your forebears, and cheer on the old and young as they compete on wooden skis. Take part in the 'Koledniki Cup' skiing race and the 'Pig's Head Cup' ski-jumping competition in the village of Kropa, either as a competitor or spectator.
The 'Koledniki Cup' is a traditional event organised in Kropa
every year on the second Saturday of January. This retro skiing competition is one of the biggest of its kind in Slovenia. Not only is there antique skiing equipment and apparel on show, but the comic tumbles of the competitors of all ages are also a source of amusement.
Participants from across Slovenia and abroad compete in the 'Koledniki Cup' ski race and the 'Pig's Head Cup' ski-jumping competition. The judges assess the standardisation of equipment, apparel and style, as well as the results achieved.
Since no artificial snow can be produced here, the competition can only be carried out in favourable snow conditions. The competition may therefore occasionally be delayed for a week or two, or even moved to the higher-lying village of Jamnik. The race is organised on the slopes behind Jarem Restaurant in Kropa, just by the entrance to the village.
