Mining lead and zinc in the Meža Valley (Mežiška dolina) has been going on for more than 400 years. A series of mines and caves has been united in a complex of mines between Mežica and Žerjav. The preserved part of the wide finished galleries under Peca has been converted into an interesting museum. The entrance to it is arranged from the plateau in the industrial zone between Mežica and Žerjav.
Before the entrance to the underground there is a station of the narrow-line railway and a storey building. On the upper floor of the house there are exhibitions of the designs of the mine, tools, photographs by Maks Kunc, a display of the ways of mining and a rich geological collection. On the ground floor there is a smaller restaurant, a souvenir shop and a coat room.
Properly dressed groups of visitors equipped with lamps are transported by train 3.5 km deep into the interior of the mountain, where there is a short walk around the wide galleries of the Moring area. In the galleries there is a presentation of the methods of mining through the centuries, individual tools and devices and their development. The tours are guided by mining experts.
The museum is regularly open. Special programmes with a snack in the cave are available for groups.
