Planina is a forested hill, rising 733m at the western edge of the Ljubljansko Barje (Ljubljana`s Barje) above Vrhnika. At the summit is a cottage, run by the Mountaineering society of Vrhnika which serves refreshments; opening on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays only. By the cottage is a 22m high wooden tower that provides stunning views across the Ljubljansko Barje and further. Planina forms a crossroad on the following mountaineering paths: Vrhnika MP, Notranjska MP, Vrhnika courier path, Ljubljana youth MP and European long distance footpath E6.
