Zeleniške Špice nad dolino Kamniške Bele

The Kamniška jama cave, located in mountain Zeleniške špice above the Kamniška Bela valley is the largest horizontal cave in Kamnik Alps and is composed of four parts: the entrance, the Main passage, the Lower part and the passages behind the Waterfall. The cave is rich with rare aragonite crystal formations. Beside the bone remains of a bear, a marten and some bats, a new species of cave beetles was discovered and named after Kamnik: Aphaenopidius Kamnikensis Drovenik. To visit the caves, you should make prior arrangements with the Kamnik Caving Club. The cave can be reached from Podbela (2 - 3 hrs).
