MICE tourism in Slovenia has been experiencing a boom in recent years. Several new conference halls and conference centres have opened, while others have been modernised and renovated. In Slovenia you can organise large conferences for up to 2,000 participants without difficulty. Since the choice of modern, well-equipped conference halls is so wide, it is sometimes difficult to decide where to hold your event.
The pillars
Ljubljana, Bled and
Portorož have the most conference halls. You can also hire large, modern conference facilities in
Maribor and a number of other locations around Slovenia.
If your conference needs a tranquil environment, you can choose the conference facilities offered by thermal spas or, for example, the
Brdo pri Kranju Conference Centre. The latter was the location, in 2008, of the majority of conferences and meetings during the Slovenian Presidency of the EU Council.
The example
The Slovenian Presidency of the EU Council confirmed, in the eyes of the international public, Slovenia's ability to organise the most demanding conferences and meetings. Although the Presidency was first and foremost a government project, numerous private partners involved in MICE tourism contributed a great deal to its success.
Conference centres
In addition to the Brdo Conference Centre, Slovenia has several other
conference centres where you can leave the preparation of halls to staff who are trained to ensure the smooth running of meetings. Conference centres can also be used to hold elite social gatherings and cultural/entertainment events.
If you wish, you can leave the organisation and running of your conference to outside contractors, in other words to companies specialising in conference activities.
Hotels with conference facilities
A large proportion of MICE tourism services in Slovenia are provided by hotels of the higher categories that have their own conference facilities. These are most suitable for conferences and meetings with up to 200 participants. A number of them also have halls with a capacity of up to 1,000 participants.
