The city of Maribor can be the starting point for this bicycle trail. At Malečnik bridge cross the river Drava and continue along the left bank of the old Drava river-bed through Malečnik, Trčova towards Zgornji Duplek, where you turn left for Korena. The hills of Slovenske gorice are varied and colourful and as such the trail leads up and down all the way to Korena, where we can visit the church of St. Barbara. From the church there is a splendid view of the Drava plain, extending to Boč and Donačka gora.
The route, along which are friendly wine cellars and tourist farms, continues in the direction of Zavrh. After looking at the memorial room of General Rudolf Maister and after taking refreshments go to the top of the nearby Maister lookout tower, from where there is the best view of the surrounding hilly countryside with its fields, orchards, vineyards, meadows and forests. From here are also visible all the Slovenske gorice churches that were built by our ancestors on the hilltops during the 16th and 17th centuries. In the distance an artificial lake rich in bird life can be seen, in the centre of the Pesnica valley the town of Lenart is waiting for you. This town is the administrative and economic centre of the Slovenske gorice region and a crossroad for bicycle trails over Slovenske gorice.
