Begin the trail in the village of Dobrovo and ride to Medana, a picturesque village on a hill where you can visit the memorial birth house of two Brda poets, Alojz Gradnik and Ludvik Zorzut. Continue on to Vipolže and picnic in the park of hundred-year-old cypresses beside the castle courtyard. There is a dance floor here where dances are held in the summer. In Dolnje Cerovo, the trail turns onto a dirt road toward the village of Kojsko, which is famous for the Church of Sv. Križ with its bell tower in the shape of a stronghold and an exceptionally well preserved Gothic wing-altar from 1515. In the village of Gonjače, climb the 144 stairs to the top of the memorial tower dedicated to the victims of World War II for a magnificent view. The route continues to Šmartno, which was fortified against the Turkish raids, and stroll through the 16th-century Gotska hiša (“Gothic House”) furnished with the elements of a traditional Brda farmhouse. On the return trip, stop at Dobrovo Castle and reward yourself with a glass of wine at the Vinoteka Brda wine shop.
