near Vršič pass, built in memory of the more than 300 Russian prisoners during the First World War who were buried in an avalanche while constructing the road. Shrines are also a constituent part of some churches, and in Slovenia they can even be found in certain secular buildings, such as in larger hospitals or public institutes.
