This different kind of holiday is a holiday offering adrenaline-pumping experiences far from the city crowds, in a natural environment with minimal human impact on the environment. The Soča Valley seems tailor-made for this kind of experience. A different kind of valley, offering both adrenaline and homeliness, an enchanting natural environment and cultural heritage, and a valley that saw the anguish of war on the Soča or Isonzo Front. The turbulent past is revealed in numerous fortifications, trenches, dugouts, mule trails, churches and chapels, cemeteries and many other structures.

Day 1 – Experiencing the past by bike
(Bovec-option A (provided the group has its own bicycles) or Eko Kamp Korita option B (taking rented bicycles) – Walk of Peace (Soča, Kluže fortress, Čelo, Ravelnik) – lunch - Eko Kamp Korita)
The Soča Front was part of the First World War battlefield running between the Italian and Austro-Hungarian armies from Rombon to the Gulf of Trieste. The front was the scene of the biggest mountain battle and the biggest battle in Slovenian land. The clashes on this front claimed the lives of thousands of Slovenian soldiers. For this reason it is still a deeply rooted part of Slovenian history today.
In the morning we meet up with the guide in Bovec or at the Eko Kamp Korita, where you will be given a presentation of the 3-day package and we pick up the bicycles. Our adrenaline-fuelled trip will start with a bicycle tour along part of the path commemorating the First World War, called Pot miru, the Walk of Peace. The guide will lead us to the village of Soča, where we tour the military cemetery of those who fell in the First World War, and the fortress of Kluže, where we leave the bikes and head off to the first of the open-air museums. We will take a look around the artillery positions, the trenches, defensive lines and commemorative signs. The valley holds countless memories of its turbulent past, which marked the landscape and the people.

Fresh with impressions of the First World War and the Soča Front, we then make our way to Bovec for lunch, and from there we continue by bike along the River Soča towards the Eko Kamp Korita, through Kal-Koritnica and Lepena. Our accommodation is at the Eko Kamp, and here we will have a very specially prepared dinner and we can just relax in the wonderful night-time atmosphere in natural surroundings by the open fire.

Day 2 – Trails of the emerald Soča

(Eko Kamp Korita – Rafting: Čezsoča – Trnovo – lunch – Eko Kamp Korita: pick up bicycles – hiking along the Soča trail – dinner – or option A: accommodation and dinner at the Kekec Homestead)

After a great night’s sleep in the heart of the Julian Alps, you can fortify yourself with a breakfast outside and then head off for rafting. We will distribute neoprene suits and other gear, and then we set off into the exciting currents of the Soča. Your job will be to enjoy the ride and the unspoilt natural surroundings. With the raft ride over and your head full of impressions, we head off for lunch.
After lunch, we make our way from the Eko Kamp Korita by bicycle to Trenta. From there we set off on a hike along the Soča trail.

After 15 minutes we will get to see one of the most beautiful karstic springs – the source of the Soča. The water that collects in the mountain area of Jalovec, Šite, Travnik and Mojstrovka, emerges from a cavern with an underground lake, and flows through a narrow gorge that soon widens. The trail from the source runs right above the river to the monument to Dr. Julius Kugy, which offers a fine view of the surrounding area. Right after the monument is the Turer Homestead, which is regarded as an outstanding example of the valley’s architectural heritage. We will also tour the Mlinarica gully, the Church of the Virgin of Loreto, the Alpine Botanical Garden and many other features offered by the Soča Valley. In the late afternoon we return to the campsite, or if you want, you can stay in the idyllic Kekec Homestead and submit to the delights of great food from the surrounding farms.

Day 3 – Adventures in the land of Kekec
(Kamp Korita/Kekec Homestead – breakfast – for option A: bicycle tour to Eko Kamp Korita – Sušec: canyoning)

After a tasty herdsman’s breakfast at Kekec Homestead (option A) we head off by bicycle to the Korita camp. At the campsite we will be welcomed by an instructor-guide, who will lead us towards Sušec, which offers a great introduction to the world of canynoning. We will discover a world of deep trenches, pools and waterfalls, and we will get to use ropes and enjoy the glorious colours of nature. After this outstanding adrenaline-fuelled adventure, we head back to camp, piece together our final impressions and conclude the 3-day tour.
