The history of the only castle in Šentilj, near Velenje starts in 1360, yet the castle may be a century older than that. The original shape of the castle originates from the 16th century, which was the period of major reconstruction. The building itself hides a number of details the origins of which date go far back into history: the Gothic spiral staircases, the cellar with its late Gothic wooden ceiling and some of the doors and windows. The castle is deserted but the Society for Preservation of Monuments is working on it, so there is still hope left.
