On an elevation near the settlement of the same name, the manor was built before 1585 by the Galli nobles and until 1607 was owned by the Cistercian monastery in Reun in Carinthia. In 1634, Mala Loka was bought by Baron Erenrajh Gall, and it changed hands several times in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. Compared with Valvasor`s depiction in the late 1600`s, the building experienced no major changes in the following centuries, losing only the roof tower at the front.
