 The Joanes excursion farm is situated among vineyards where the young vines grow, only a few kilometers from Maribor. The Protners are experts on vines and wines, and their guide to tasting (available in English and German) is a real source of new knowledge.

Wine, open or bottled, goes with good food. Cold cuts and bread are always available to accompany wine tasting, but warm meals are available as well: mushroom soup with buckwheat žganci (groats), Štajerska sour soup, grilled sausage, blood sausage with sauerkraut . . . Vegetarian dishes are also available.

The farm is especially lively at grape harvesting time and on St. Martin's Day. There are pleasant walks in the area, for example, to the Gothic church two kilometers away, as well as tennis courts, and the Protners also offer excursions in their van.
