The Markučič excursion farm is situated in the Rižana Valley in the village of Hrastovlje, overlooking the church of Sv. Trojica. The dining room and wine cellar easily accommodate a busload of people, and the rooms are often filled with singing and dancing in the evenings, although there are also quiet corners where guests can sample the bread, pršut (prosciutto), pancetta, and sausages, or the poticas, stews, and wines - all homemade from home-grown produce, of course. The church of Sv. Trojica is famous for the beautifully preserved, late Gothic frescoes of Ivan of Kastev that cover its entire interior, particularly the Danse Macabre. The surrounding countryside is ideal for nature lovers and bicyclists and there are many sights close by to visit such as Socerb Castle, the Podpeč tower, and, of course, the coastal towns of Ankaran, Koper, Izola, Piran, and Portorož.
