 If wine, homemade food, and Pohorje are what you want, you must visit the Bračko farm located among the vineyards just outside Maribor. The aroma of maturing grapes fills the rooms, you wake to the sound of the wind rattles, and the wine is always refreshing. Anton is the complete winegrower, and Frida is an excellent cook.
You will certainly be offered pork preserved in lard, homemade pork items, and other sorts of meat. To this add vegetables - if you are vegetarian, fried breaded cheese or the vegetarian salad will delight you - and bread, all served with wines that you can help to produce.
There is always enough to do in the vineyards, and Anton will teach you the skills you need. The grape harvest and wine tasting are accompanied by the music of the accordion and singing, and there are peaches and other fruit to pick as well. Maribor's festivals and attractions are minutes away, and nearby Pohorje offers hiking, bicycle trails, and forest fruits in summer and downhill and cross-country skiing in winter.
