The idyllic winter landscape features a number of arranged natural skating rinks. One of the most attractive is in Jezersko. Although numerous lakes, including Bohinj and Bled, are often covered with a fine sheet of ice, for your own safety you are advised to use the artificial skating rinks. Recent years have seen the development of small open-air skating rinks in a number of Slovenian towns, close to sports and shopping centres, and these are intended especially for relaxed socialising, often to music. There are also some skating rinks in sports halls. All skating rinks rent out skates, and a few clubs in the bigger cities offer skating instruction.
