A view that you will not forget
Until 1980 Šared was a village with dispersed farms, clustered on a high hill that extends above Izola at 268 m above sea level. There are many new houses, which are mainly located at the top of the hill. From there you can admire the amazing view of the whole coast of the North Adriatic Sea with Friuli, Karst and high plateaus and the mountains in the background, such as the Dolomites, the Julian Alps, Nanos, Vremščica, Čičarija with Učka and Snežnik.
Traces of the past
Above the village are the ruins of the succursal church of St. Jacob, which was renovated in 1729 and once again a couple of years ago because it was ravaged by time. In front of the church is a monument to three partisans who were killed . During the construction of the new part of the settlement at Grublje were discovered archeological findings from the 1st and the 2nd Century AD, which are a proof that the Romans colonized this area
