The village is situated along the border with Italy near the frontier Repentabor. After WW II the border was established so that all the houses remained in Slovenia, whereas the school, the graveyard, the church and most fields remained in Italy. The Vogelj pine trees shelter country houses, while excellent restaurants improved the development of tourism in the village. A magnificent monument to the villagers who died during the war stands in the centre and the skeleton of a cave bear was recently excavated in the nearby quarry.
