In the village there are a baroque church of St Peter from the 17th century, which is covered with škrle, and the church of St Jakob from 14th century. The chapel of Mati Božja (Mother of God) from 1898 is the work of the stonecutter Andrej Pavčar from Merče. The old curacy is a unique ethnological monument of the municipality of Sežana. Furman restaurant Štampinova domačija is still preserved in the old style. The communal štirna of Povir is from 1892 and made of four round stone pieces. On the Tabor Hill there are the remains of a large dyke of prehistoric ancient fort, whereas on Štirenca is still preserved an old štirna. An antique building was discovered in 1974 in Merišče. In the village surroundings are several caves, abysses and the “studenc” well. The water inside it was once used for drinking; now the well is used by locals for swimming.

Automobiles : On the road Sežana-Divača, has also a railway station.
