Rubije is the village north from Komen on the border with Vipava valley. The village is surrounded by hills with beautiful walking trails: St. Martins hill (476 m) and Šumka (or Šunka, 518 m) at north east side, at the north side Ovčjak (575 m), Lipanjski vrh (536 m) and St. Katarina, and at north west Trstelj (643 m). On the St. Martin’s hill there are remaining of an old prehistoric settlement and ruins of medieval church. On the nice day on the top of St. Katarina and St. Martin’s hill there is a wonderful view to the sea. There is a small chapel dedicated to Virgin Marie in the village. You can still see two quarries where a lot of local people where employed as stonecutters and quarrymen.
