During the First World War the locals were mostly transferred to the Šta- jerska region due to the battles taking place at the Isonzo Front. There is a historical walking trail that leads from one of the largest Austro-Hungarian military burial places at the Isonzo Front (with more than 10,000 soldiers buried), down the valley, where the rests of a military hospital and railroad can be seen. The church of St. Andrew and a monument to the victims of the Second World War can be found on the square. Among other things, there is also the home of the Štrekelj brothers Anton (a faming expert) and Dr. Karel Štrekelj (journalist, linguist and collector of traditional folk material). Every year the Štrekelj award is delivered to his memory. Numerous wells, the village kal and the water collector supplying the drinking troughs with water, are reminders of the shortage of water in this region. However, the village surroundings offer numerous trails, making it an ideal place for strolling and cycling.

Automobiles : A regional road leads to Gorjansko from Komen via the border with Italy.
