 Slap, VipavaDESCRIPTION  Slap lies 136 metres above the sea. It is a tightly knit settlement with rich portals, wells, sidewalks and other stonecutting works. SIGHTS: Here one can find a church consecrated to St. Matija, which was renovated and sanctified in 1702. Next to the church there is a castle, most probably built in 1720. The local people are very proud of the fact the first Slovene wine and fruit growing school was established in Slap in the time of Carniola Province. It was located on the estate the then owner, Count Karol Lanthieri, allotted to the province. BASIC DATA Population : 420 Height above sea level : 141 m Location in the countryside ACCESS Automobiles : If you are coming from Razdrto toward Vipava, you turn left a bit before Vipava. The road then takes you over a stone bridge over the stream Močilnik and you soon reach the village.
