DESCRIPTION

A pleasant, Primorje region village, Vrhpolje, lies between grey Kolk and magnificent
Nanos. Duplje, a small village between Log and Vrhpolje, is closely connected to it. The sea, which once touched this area, left rich layers of marl and flysch behind. Today they form a good soil for vine growing.
The Vrhpolje area was marked already in Roman times. In 349, a battle between the Roman Emperor Teodosius and rebel Eugenius took place in the field towards Duplje and Zemono. According to historical data, burja (a strong wind) had the major role in the battle as it blew back the enemy's arrows on Eugenius' soldiers.
The village is included in the project
Vipava wine road.
