The village Orehovica lies 200 metres above the sea. It is know for orehovec, a home made walnut spirit, and many walnut trees, which probably gave the name to the village.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION: The village was first mentioned in 1499, in the German version of its name: Nussdorf (nuss-nut, dorf-village). Orehovica is famous for its many old and well preserved farms with wine cellars-hrami. It was known for its typical stonecutting culture as well. Many of the wine cellars preserved their images since there almost isn't a farm that doesn't make wine every year.
The village is included in the project
Vipava wine road.
