DESCRIPTION
The Dobrepolje Valley (Dobrepoljska dolina) and the Struga Valley (Struška dolina), which form the region of the Dobrepolje municipality, are covered by fertile fields and forests. From the Church of St. Anthony (sv. Anton) there is a beautiful view on the villages with idyllic churches, old houses and hayracks. In front of the church there is a linden groove with over 100 linden trees up to 500 years old. At Videm one can view the works of two local artists, sculptor and painter France and Tone Kralj. There is also a monument to Fran Jaklič, the writer, scholar, politician and worker in a cooperative society. The Church of St. Florian (sv. Florjan) in Ponikve is famous for its Baroque altars. Both valleys are distinctively karstic and the proofs of their karstic character are the most renewed Podpeška jama Cave, which attracted J. W. Valvasor as well as the Rašica stream, which sinks underground in Ponikve. In the forests, which surround the valley, there are plenty of deer, foxes, boars, badgers and other forest animals. The terrain is convenient for biking, mushroom picking and walks.
