Olimje can be found in the fertile and peaceful valley at the foot of the Rudnica Mountain. The center of this area boasts the renovated monastery complex including a castle and a church, which is adorned with a gold and black baroque altar. In the castle tower, visitors will find a celebrated pharmacy, enriched with frescos, which is one of the oldest preserved monastic pharmacies in Europe.

A botanical garden extends out in front of the monastery including over 160 different healing herbs. Today the monastery is inhabited by the Minorite Brothers. The rich tourist offers of the region include many welcoming farmhouses with authentic Slovene wine and food, as well as various types of homemade chocolate and beer, golf courses, a fairy tale-like countryside and breeders of deer and other small creatures.

Tidiness and beauty of these places has convinced even the strict European commission that awarded village Olimje with golden medal on Entente Florale 2009 contest.
